The Covid-19 lockdowns have been tough on Malaysians, some have lost their jobs, some have lost their businesses and most are struggling to survive.

Which is why the federal territories ministry has decided to allow the residents in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan to freely conduct their businesses anywhere within these three territories for the next six months.

As according to The Times, Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa said that they will be allowed to sell anything, though this policy is exclusively only for Malaysians.

The decision was made after a meeting with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Putrajaya Corporation and Labuan Corporation, in order to help make it easier for Malaysians to make a living and support themselves and their families throughout the lockdown period.

“From 15 November until 15 April, just before Ramadan, I declare all federal territories as ‘free trade areas’. Everyone can do business, as long as they follow the written guidelines that will be released by all three federal territory authorities,” he said.

All traders must first contact their local authorities to provide information on their business and where they will be conducting it.

“This is so that authorities can conduct checks and ensure businesses are not obstructing traffic,” he added.

Traders must also apply for a temporary static hawker license, but fret not, for it will be automatically approved throughout the six-month period, based on reports by Berita Harian.

“We still need to give them licenses because we want to keep a record of all the traders. We need their data for the long term. This is on the condition that their business does not result in any complaints from the public, do not block people’s housing areas, occupy parking lots without permission or cause litter,” he shared.
