A distressing video caught the attention of Malaysians recently, showing a Malaysian girl having her leg stuck in between a metal bench at an undisclosed location in our country.
As shared by the Sinar Lagenda public page on Facebook, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) had to come to the girl’s rescue.
Bomba saves a girl who got her leg stuck between a public bench
At the start of the video, a group of JBPM personnel can be seen sizing up their options on how to rescue the girl, including whether it’s possible to manually widen the gap between the 2 curved metal poles so that the girl can break free.
Furthermore, in the background, you can see an Abang Bomba firing up the generator which powers a special industrial tool.
Afterwards, the girl can be seen being calmed by another Abang Bomba as the extent of her plight is in full display, whereby her leg is stuck tightly between the 2 metal poles which make up the bench.
1 of the JBPM personnel then used the industrial tool seen earlier to widen the gap between the 2 metal poles and thankfully, the girl was able to break free afterwards!

Malaysians criticise the dangerous design of the bench
In the comments section, many Malaysians praised the JBPM personnel for their excellent work, while criticising the design of the bench which lacks safety.
One commenter said that the design of the metal bench is no longer relevant, while another said that Malaysia shouldn’t make this type of bench in public areas anymore.
Another commenter echoed the same sentiment, calling out the designer of the bench because it’s dangerous for children, as seen in the video.
