Starting February 10, private vehicle owners will no longer be required to display their road tax stickers on windscreens, ultimately saying good bye to messy windscreens and sub-par quality road tax stickers.
The move to be more digital, however, was not everyone’s cup of tea, with some beginning to complain about the effectiveness of the app.
An Islamist party sympathiser recently had this to say about the recent move by the Transport Ministry.
“So we don’t need our display our road tax now anymore right? Despite recent advancements, they did not realise that they are taking hundreds of jobs away from runners,” said the person.
“Did you know, that runners make a living, printing out your road tax, lining up at the JPJ and generate income with their service charge,” she added.
“Hundreds of runners will suffer!”
She also pointed out the hassle that will come with the utilisation of the app.
The comments made against this ‘influencer’ were mostly negative, but the best answer came from Abang Gan, a notable figure in the automotive industry.
“Relax, I know there are many who are less than satisfied with this latest update. Even the minister mentioned that this is still optional, which means you can choose to display or not display your road tax,” he said.
“In the event of a roadblock, officers are equipped with their own app to identify whether or not your car is road worthy. So don’t worry, don’t worry, don’t worry.”
