Previously, we shared about a 70-year-old Malaysian woman getting arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for driving a Proton X50 on the motorcycle lane of the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge, as seen in a viral video.

Well, another viral video at the same location caught the attention of Malaysians recently, this time showing a group of individuals riding their superbikes on the main road of the Penang second bridge instead of the motorcycle lane.

The video, shared by the Penang Kini Facebook page, has garnered over 196,000 views and more than 1,500 reactions as of the time of writing.

It depicts dashcam footage of the superbike group riding using the two motorcar lanes of the iconic bridge, instead of the designated motorcycle lane on the left.

In the caption, Penang Kini wrote,

“Welcome to Penang. Hopefully, those who enter via the second bridge can use the appropriate facility and adhere to the laws.”

Meanwhile, in the comments, many Malaysians shared their two cents on the actions of the superbike group, with many criticising them for not using the designated motorcycle lane.

One Penang resident claimed that the superbike group ran many red lights while on Penang Island and acted all casual about breaking traffic laws.

Meanwhile, another commenter said that the superbike group was arrogant for not using the motorcycle lane, and if they were to get into an accident while on the Penang second bridge’s motorcar lane, they wouldn’t be eligible for any insurance claims.

Besides that, another Penang resident claimed that the superbike group rode dangerously while on Penang Island and almost hit his car.

PDRM is now investigating the superbike group

Following the video going viral, the Seberang Perai Selatan District Police has confirmed that it is now investigating the superbike group.

In a statement, Seberang Perai Selatan District Police Chief Superintendent Jay January Siowou said that his side has taken notice of the viral video and found that it took place on 20 June 2025 at around 4.35pm on the Penang second bridge from Batu Kawan towards Batu Maung.

Jay January Siowou asserted,

“The action (of the superbike group) is very dangerous, not only to themselves, but to other road users.

“The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous and reckless driving.”

The Seberang Perai Selatan District Police Chief stressed that road safety is a mutual responsibility and urged anyone with information regarding the incident to channel the information to the police at 04-5858222.
