The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has confirmed that it is planning to apply for the extension of the remand order against local rapper and singer Namewee tomorrow (10 November) to facilitate investigations into the death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh in a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur on 22 October.
Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, is currently under a 6-day remand, which is set to expire tomorrow.

BERNAMA quoted Dang Wangi District Police Chief ACP Sazalee Adam as saying that the application will be submitted tomorrow. However, he did not reveal any new developments regarding the case.
Namewee is a person of interest in the investigation into Iris’ death, as he was the last person to be with the victim before her death. Her body was found in a bathtub in a hotel room in Jalan Conlay on 22 October.

The case was initially classified as sudden death (SDR), but PDRM has since reclassified it as a murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Following this reclassification, Namewee turned himself in to the police on 5 November to assist with the investigation.
The victim’s full autopsy report is still pending, along with a toxicology analysis to identify the real cause of death.
Namewee was previously charged at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on 24 October for drug use and possession after he tested positive for 4 illegal substances and was found with ecstasy pills at the crime scene.
