Animal lovers, unite!
A National Museum volunteer guide, Caroline, is urgently looking for adopters who are willing to give stray cats residing around the museum a new home before DBKL takes them all away.
She spoke to Malay Mail regarding the situation, stating that 13 have already found homes but there are still 11 eager little kitties in need of adopters.
“All cats that are ready for adoption have been cleaned and neutered. There are more (cats) that I am trying to rescue, but it takes time as these are stray cats and they are defensive,” she said.

DBKL officers had apparently recently arrived that the museum, with cages.
“When I saw that, my husband and I quickly gathered most of the strays and took them home. But last week, so happened I was here (at the museum) and suddenly, I saw DBKL trucks arriving at the compound. I told them that the cats were all mine, but they proceeded anyway and caught three of the strays,” she added.

Caroline, who is of German nationality, then went to the DBKL pound in Cheras in order to take the cats back.
“The DBKL pound is not a place for any animal. The conditions are terrible. It’s exactly what you read about in news reports,” she said. She also urged the general public to visit animal pounds in Malaysia to get a better sense of how bad the conditions are.

She has since negotiated with DBKL for more time in order to find homes for these strays.
Over the past 3 years, Caroline and her husband have been looking after over 60 stray cats living around the museum premises, 35 of which have been neutered.
