The Negeri Sembilan State Government have recently announced that they will be implementing a special Takaful insurance scheme called the Insuran Takaful Pusat Pembangunan Belia Harapan Negeri Sembilan (TABAH) for food delivery riders in the state. As reported by the state government’s official mouthpiece, Negeri Kita, the scheme was announced by the State Government’s Youth and Sports Exco Dato’ Mohamad Taufek Abdul Ghani during the recent Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seating last Wednesday (8 September 2021).
Taufek, who is also the Assemblyperson for Paroi said that the Takaful insurance coverage will be offered to 500 food delivery riders throughout Negeri Sembilan and will officially be launched by the state’s Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Aminuddin Harun on Malaysia Day this 16 September.
The scheme include insurance coverage of up to:
- RM10,000 for next of kin in case of death by accident.
- Rm10,000 in the case of permanent disability.
- RM1,000 for hospital treatment costs.
- RM1,000 for death beneficiaries support.

The Paroi Assemblyperson further elaborated,
“This Takaful insurance coverage is for one year and recipients will be receiving a special Takaful TABAH card as acknowledgement… Our aim is to help ease the burden of food delivery riders without consistent income to have an insurance policy.”
In order to be eligible for the scheme, applicants must be:
- Under 40-years-old.
- Working full time as a food delivery rider.
- Monthly income under RM3,000.
- Staying in Negeri Sembilan.

Taufek also said that the objective for this scheme is to provide food delivery riders with basic personal insurance policies that could help ease the burden should there be any accidents when they are on duty. Furthermore, it is also to create awareness to high risk workers to have an insurance policy to be used during times of emergency.
