During the Sabah election period, there was a rise in Covid-19 cases. Unknowingly, some people who came back from Sabah earlier on have started showing symptoms and this has caused an outbreak throughout Malaysia, East AND West.

Some politicians were reported to have gone straight to events after their return from Sabah but not Syed Saddiq.

In his latest post, he shares that he got tested for Covid-19 on 26 September and the test results came back negative. According to the Health Director-General Dr. Noor Hisham, a person returning from Sabah who has had no history of close contact with Covid-19 patients is allowed to roam free if their initial test results return negative.

In response to this, Syed Saddiq has said that even though he tested negative, he will still quarantine for a full 14 days to be sure. He added,

“Just because of ‘special treatment’ we are facing another wave of Covid-19. There are 260 new cases on 1 October! Please lah.”

He then continues: “No actions were taken on the deputy minister who went to Turkey and did not quarantine when he came back. There are still politicians who came back from Sabah but do not want to quarantine. The whole of Malaysia is affected.”

“Double standards!”

“If there is a second MCO, the minister will be having their holidays while the rakyat will be ‘holiday-ed’ from their jobs forever.”

Netizens in the comments were very supportive of Syed Saddiq and most of them thanked him for speaking out on behalf of them. They also said that the Muar MP is setting a very good example for the older politicians to follow and he is doing the right thing by calling them out.

We certainly hope that the politicians will be following the youngling’s footsteps. Our country can’t afford to have a second MCO.
