It seems that Klang peeps need to have some flying cars to go through Sungai Teluk Menegun bridge along Jalan Kebun as according to The Star, a humongous 10 metre-wide sinkhole appeared there on 30th December 2019 (Monday), prompting the road to be fully closed for repair-works. Yikes! Guess need to find a detour with Waze if you’re going through that area then.

The Klang Public Works Department estimated that repair works should take approximately 7 days, and residents should be able to use the road again by 6th January 2020 (Monday). It is believed that the 10-metre sinkhole was a result of soil erosion from the waters of the river beside the bridge.
Here are all the residential areas affected by the road closure:
- Kampung Jawa
- Teluk Menegun
- Taman Maznah
- Taman Klang Indah
- Kampung Miskin
- Taman Emas
- Desa Latania
- Golden Villa
Sentosa assemblyman G. Gunaraj, who was at the scene of the sinkhole closure on Monday said that,
“This is one of the main arteries in the neighbourhood and I hope that motorists will take alternative routes,”
He further commented that those who usually take this road would have to use residential roads instead. Motorists from Klang town going to the Bukit Kemuning roundabout and vice versa are able to take Jalan Raja Nong and Jalan Sungai Jati as alternatives.
Hopefully, sinkholes like this can be avoided in the future with proper construction of roads as well as regular maintenance work that takes into consideration the geographical location and soil of the area. Even though it’s 2020 already, we don’t have flying cars (yet), so we can’t just fly over these sinkholes and potholes. 😛
