Post-GE14 Najib is like Thanos without his infinity gauntlet, as he has been removed from power and even lost influence among his party members. In fact, some have already demanded his resignation as the party president!
Having said that, Sirul Azhar who’s known to be the hitman of Altantuya Shaariibuu has been hiding in Australia, should be worried about his safety. In other words, GG bro.

According to The Guardian, a former official from UMNO, namely Datuk Khairul Anwar Rahmat had flown to Australia’s Villawood detention centre to meet the former commando and hitman. This private meeting happened two weeks ago (April 2018) while Najib was preparing for the toughest election of his life.
With the new federal government in place, Greg Lopez who’s a research expert in Malaysia said the Altantuya case is likely to be re-opened.
“The fact that no motive for the murder has ever been established leaves open a possibility that it was a state-sponsored killing and that needs to be thoroughly investigated. Najib could find himself in a very precarious situation,” Greg said.
In fact, Greg believes that Dr Mahathir will be looking to commute Sirul’s sentence and get him back to Malaysia. As for Sirul, he has to break silence and prove to the Australian authorities that he did not mastermind the killing. Otherwise, he will not be granted a protection visa by Australian government.

To recap, Altantuya Shaariibuu was kidnapped one night in October 2006 and shot using a semi-automatic gun. Her body was then horrifically destroyed with military grade explosives. Sirul and another officer were found guilty of murdering Altantuya but no motive was ever established.
Sirul then miraculously escaped to Australia in late 2014 while out on bail waiting for the judgement. He was arrested by the Australian authority after a death sentence was meted out by Malaysian federal court in January 2015.

Initially, Sirul was reachable to the journalists, but soon, he became off limits to all reporters. Interestingly, the local government only allowed Malaysian officials and their middlemen to visit him.

There’s certainly a lot of questions surrounding this cold-blooded murder and the family members of Altantuya are still waiting for an answer, after 12 years. We hope the new federal government can unravel the mystery and prosecute the real mastermind behind this murder so that justice can finally be served.
