As Indonesia became the latest destination for Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk to build its battery and electrical vehicle factory, salty Malaysians began comparing what the future prospect would be like as tech giants are looking towards Indonesia instead of Malaysia as their investment destination.

The comparison between the two ASEAN nations and its leaders has started a mudslinging contest between netizens of both nations. This narrative however, was not shared by this netizen, who tweeted: “No Elon Musk, no problem.”!

“Malaysia is losing a chance from Elon Musk? No worries. There are more tech companies out there. They’re investing right here in Malaysia.”

In his tweet, he mentioned a number of exciting tech and investment updates that most Malaysia missed.

“Amazon Web Services (AWS) is building their data centre in Malaysia.”

“Foxconn (producers of the iPhone) will be producing chips for electric vehicles in Malaysia.”

“Ferrotec, a world leading manufacturer, marketer, distributor of advanced material, component, assembly solutions used in a broad array of end products, manufacturing systems and industries, are investing RM500mil in Kulim.”

He also mentions several other industry giants that will be calling Malaysia home very soon.

“Malaysia is still an attractive investment destination in the region.”

“We just have to keep pushing out stories out and our competitive edge. These new investments will help drive our economy and push up Malaysia in the value chain.”

True. Elon Musk is not the ONLY industry giant out there.
