Previously, we shared the tragic incident that took place at the Sungai Udang-Paya Rumput-Ayer Keroh Highway (SPA Highway), where 2 siblings were killed while riding their motorcycle en route to visit their late father’s grave in Melaka after they crashed into a roll-on roll-off (Roro) garbage bin placed on the road’s emergency lane.
Now, Melaka City Mayor Datuk Shadan Othman asserted that action has been taken against the owner of the Roro garbage bin, which was revealed to be a property development company whose workers were cutting trees at the location.

Shadan was quoted by Utusan Malaysia as saying that the company has been compounded RM1,000 for putting the Roro garbage bin on the emergency lane without proper warning signages.
The Melaka City Mayor elaborated,
“Melaka City Hall (MBMB) enforcers went to the location and found there was only 1 cone placed and no warning signages, which was supposed to be put near the Roro garbage bin.
“We won’t compromise with any parties that don’t adhere to regulations by putting Roro garbage bins or anything else by the roadside without proper warning signages which can cause unwanted incidents to happen.”

The victims’ mother witnessed the incident with her own eyes and is calling for justice
The tragic incident took place on Monday (23 September) at aronud 6.15pm, with the victims identified as siblings 5-year-old Nur Afiqah Sofea and 18-year-old Muhammad Amirul Hazlin.
The victims were riding on their motorcycle while followed closely behind by their mother, 40-year-old Norian Ujak, when the siblings crashed into the Roro garbage bin as they didn’t have time to avoid it due to a lorry that was on the road.
The distraught mother witnessed the incident first-hand and is calling for justice for her perished children.
