Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has expressed gratitude to God regarding the Kuala Lumpur High Court’s decision to grant former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak a discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) for 3 counts of money laundering involving RM27 million of SRC International Sdn Bhd.

Hailing the decision as a “moral victory”, Wan Rosdi hoped that the jailed former Prime Minister would be given justice for all the charges that he is facing.

Taking to his official Facebook page, the Pahang Menteri Besar asserted,

“Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah. Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was today granted DNAA by the High Court for 3 charges of money laundering involving RM27 million of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.

“This verdict is a moral victory for Najib, his family and UMNO members. May Najib be given strength, fortitude and justice in facing the charges against him.”

Wan Rosdy’s statement came a few hours after Najib was granted DNAA at the Kuala Lumpur High Court for 3 counts of receiving money totalling RM27 million from illegal activities through 3 of his AmPrivate Banking bank accounts, at AmIslamic Bank Berhad, Bangunan Ambank Group, Jalan Raja Chulan.

The charge is under Section 4(1)(a) of the Prevention of Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2001, which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison or a fine of RM5 million or both, if convicted.

Najib has been serving his sentence at the Kajang Prison since 23 August 2022, after being convicted of misappropriating RM42 million of SRC International funds.

The High Court had previously sentenced him to 12 years in prison and a fine of RM210 million, and the decision was upheld by the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court after dismissing Najib’s appeal.

He filed a petition for a royal pardon on September 2, 2022, and the Pardon Board subsequently reduced his prison sentence from 12 years to 6 years, while the fine was reduced from RM210 million to RM50 million.
