The Pahang government has agreed to ban electronic cigarettes and vapes in the state.

According to a report by Berita Harian, the Chairman of the state Islamic Religious Affairs, Rural Development and Orang Asli Affairs Committee, Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad, shared that the fatwa banning the use of vapes was from the Pahang Mufti’s Office.

“The fatwa was informed to the Pahang State Legal Advisor’s Office on March 3, through a paper sent by the Menteri Besar’s Office, regarding the use of vapes among today’s society,”

“The state government took note and brought it to the State Government Council on May 14 and received the approval of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. His Majesty stated His Majesty’s concern about this matter (the use of vapes),” he said.

Enforcement

Meanwhile, Syed Ibrahim requested the cooperation of all local authorities (PBTs) in the state to increase enforcement on this matter, to educate the public so that they will no longer participate in the use of vapes.

“We hope that the public will stop carrying vapes, and that shops no longer need to sell these devices. We understand that traders have constraints because they have already stocked up on them,”

“So, you can gradually stop stocking up on vapes and those who use them (vapes) can also stop, make an effort, be determined and ask Allah SWT to give you strength,” he said.
