In an effort to ramp up the Covid-19 vaccination rate in the state of Kelantan, Law Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan is offering a RM20 incentive for the residents of Kota Bharu to get themselves vaccinated. Takiyuddin, who is also the PAS Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kelantan’s capital city announced the incentive on his official Facebook page here.
The incentive will start this Sunday (30 May 2021) and can be collected at the service centre of the Kota Bharu MP. According to the post, the Kota Bharu Parliamentary office will be offering RM20 (for each dose) to constituents who have received the Covid-19 vaccine. The post asserts,
“Exclusive for Kota Bharu residents… Let’s spread this to all the rakyat. Complete the first dose and we’ll pay RM20. Complete the second dose, we’ll also pay RM20.”
In order to be eligible for the incentive, the applicant must be a registered voter in the Kota Bharu Parliamentary constituency. Furthermore, the applicant must also produce their Identification Card (IC) at the Kota Bharu MP service centre as well as proof that they have been vaccinated with the Covid-19 vaccine.
In the same post, Takiyuddin also offers free transport for Kota Bharu residents to get to the vaccination if they have no other way to get there for their turn to get the vaccine. Recently, Kelantan is one of the worst states in Malaysia to be hit with the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the vaccination rate at the state have been underwhelming with many failing to turn up to their vaccination appointments. As reported by The Star, nearly 10,000 Kelantan residents – mostly senior citizens – have failed to show up to vaccination centres during their turn to get vaccinated.
