Months after GE15 had concluded and following the formation of the Unity Government (PH-BN), the President of PAS, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang still believes that PAS should lead the unity government.

In an interview with the media today (May 27), Hadi revealed that he has received calls from “certain people” from the unity government who asked him to join the organisation. He said the offer should have given PAS an advantage because the party has more seats than other parties.

“Some people contacted me, they offer me to join the government.”

However, that did not happen because PAS only serves to contribute to increasing the number of seats to strengthen the position of the government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He added that if PAS has secured more seats, the party definitely has a right to lead the country.

“PAS has 43 seats, PKR has only 30. In this situation of 30 seats, 9 seats are non-Malays. Only 19 Muslims in PKR, DAP. 3 Malays out of 40 seats, 37 non-Malay seats,” said Hadi.

Hadi said he rejected the offer because PAS will still be in the back seat and not the front seat. He said that when forming a government, the bigger party should lead.

Regardless, Hadi said that he is always open to meeting with any party to establish cooperation, but it must coincide with the concept and direction brought.
