PDRM Dismissed 59 Personnel So Far This Year After Receiving 2,637 Reports About Police Misconduct

Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) director Datuk Seri Azri Ahmad has revealed that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have dismissed 59 personnel in the first 5 months of 2025 following disciplinary action, most of them due to drug-related offences.

He added that other cases involved integrity violations, criminal offences, corruption and syariah-related misconduct.

Azri Ahmad was quoted by BERNAMA as saying that his department had received 2,637 complaints and reports concerning police conduct during the same period.

Furthermore, between January and May 2025, 671 PDRM personnel were interdicted, while 146 others were suspended from duty.

The JIPS director revealed the statistics during the opening of the new Maran Police District (IPD) headquarters in Maran, Pahang, today.

Azri Ahmad, who is retiring on 26 June after 37 years of service, thanked the public for their valuable cooperation in submitting the reports and complaints, asserting,

“I want to thank the public for their valuable cooperation. Based on these statistics, the PDRM assures the public that any officer found guilty of wrongdoing, be it misconduct or criminal activity, will face firm disciplinary action without compromise,”

The Aduan JIPS mobile app

Besides that, the JIPS director revealed that his department recently launched the Aduan JIPS mobile app on 4 June, which allows the public to submit complaints about police misconduct.

So far, the app has received over 23 complaints, with Azri Ahmad assuring whistleblowers that their identities are fully protected.
