A crashed Honda Civic in Subang Jaya was found with RM7 million worth of methamphetamine inside

Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, Subang Jaya Police Chief, said the police received a report about the matter from the public on August 13 at 11:30 AM. The police, however, found no driver near the car when they reached the scene.

Regardless, the crash led to the discovery of the narcotics “hidden” in the car.

“A search of the rear seat compartment found four sacks containing 78 plastic packages, while seven sacks containing 130 plastic packages were found in the boot.”

“In total, the police seized 11 sacks containing 208 plastic packages containing methamphetamine weighing 220.16 kilograms worth RM7 million,” Wan Azlan said in a press conference today (August 22).

The suspect dropped his IC in the car

The suspect, however, dropped his identification card (IC) in the car, prompting a nationwide manhunt for the suspect.

“The police are now actively tracking an individual known as Mohd Rahmat Hanafi, 32, with an address in Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, after finding an identity card in the vehicle involved.”

Wan Azlan also said that the man had six criminal records and nine past drug cases. He explained that the investigation also found that the vehicle used a fake registration number.

“Investigations are still underway to determine whether the accident involved other vehicles or just the car involved.”

“It is believed that the man is still in the country and we are investigating his role and the source of the drug supply,” Wan Azlan said.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) urged the public with relevant information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
