It was announced that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the government would allow visitations for Hari Raya but ONLY on the first day and the number of guests should be below 20 people. Simple instructions right? Well, apparently not simple enough for some Malaysians. On top of attempting to violate the no interstate travel rule, some of them were also caught violating the no Hari Raya visitations after the first-day rule.

Six friends just about to bask in the joy of Hari Raya had their happiness shortlived when they were fined for violating the no visitation rule.

Penang Kini reported that these friends consisting of five girls and a guy were visiting their friend in Penaga, Kepala Batas when the police did a surprise spot check around 3.45pm. All of them including the house owner were fined the RM1,000 compound.

Seberang Perai Utara Chief Police, Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said that the police will no longer give out warnings but instead just compound or arrest those who are stubborn and still violate the Conditional Movement Control Order.

He added that from the first day of Muslims celebrated Aidilfitri to yesterday, 101 compounds were issued for various offences including interstate travel and visitations after the first day.

The Assistant Commissioner said that the police have been separated into ten teams and will be patrolling the area to make sure there are no more SOP violations.

Malaysians, let’s get one thing straight. We’re STILL in CMCO and the Covid-19 threat is still very prominent. If we find it so hard to follow simple instructions, then, let’s prepare to stay indoors for an even extended period of time.
