Service animals are hardworking professionals who cannot be replaced.
We know that canines are an essential part of the police narcotics team in addition to the tracking team. Airports have many jobs for them as well to sniff out certain illegal substances.
On 20 September, a hard-working member of the service animals society, Tho passed on. His death was publicised through the Pahang Police Facebook page and the official PDRM Facebook page.

Tho, a 12-year-old Labrador was an efficient police dog. He was quite skilled with tracking and sniffing out narcotics. His skills and attitude made him a great asset to PDRM.
He took his last breath on 20th September at 7.30pm. It is said that his cause of death is his advanced age as he was 12. The general rule of thumb for dogs is that one human year equals to seven dog years.
Tho was born in China in 2008 and when he was eight months old, he was assigned to Sergeant Patrick Sandai, reported Bernama. The sergeant said,
“Before moving to IPK Pahang in June 2018, we were both in the Criminal Investigation Department of IPK Johor and were involved in busting many drug smuggling operations.”
He recalled that whenever Tho felt that the sergeant was having a bad day, the canine would always rub against his legs to cheer him up.
Tho’s death was mourned by members of PDRM and the netizens. May Tho rest in peace in doggy heaven.
