The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) rescued 2 Indian nationals who were deceived after being promised jobs as seamstresses. However, they were not paid their wages and were instead beaten by their employer at a house in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur.

According to a report by Harian Metro, the 2 women were rescued through Op Pintas, which was carried out by the D3 Anti Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Division (Atipsom) from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) along with the Criminal Investigation Division from the Wangsa Maju District Police Headquarters (IPD).

Bukit Aman D3 Principal Assistant Director, Senior Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong, shared that a 30-year-old Indian man, believed to be acting as an employer and agent, was also successfully arrested in the operation.

“2 victims of human trafficking, Indian women aged 20 and 22, were rescued from the house involved, after being tricked and exploited into forced labour. Both victims were promised jobs as seamstresses with a salary of RM2,000 per month, but the salary was not received,” he said.

Due to not receiving their salaries, both victims refused to work, which ultimately caused the suspect to act violently.

“The victims had been with the suspect since December of last year. Initial investigations found that the victims suffered injuries to their knees and foreheads as it is believed that they were beaten with a fan.”

This case is now being investigated under Section 13 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2007.
