A man recently fled with RM3 million worth of casino chips he stole from Genting Highlands, and is now believed to be out of the country.

PDRM, however, managed to recover RM2 million of the casino chips, with the remaining RM1 million still untraceable.

Pahang Police Chief, Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman, said that the chips were retrieved and seized after an employee of a junket company reached out to the police following a transaction with the suspect.

“The employee said he bought the chips for RM2 million, which is equivalent to 200 chips. Each chip costs RM10,000, and the items have now been seized as evidence.”

The man, who was in his 30s, had given a cash loan of RM2 million to the suspect through two of his employees, with the chip used as collateral. The transaction was done by hand in the lobby of a hotel in Genting Highlands without any written agreement, Yahaya said during a media conference yesterday (August 12).

The suspect, who is believed to have the remaining RM1 million worth of casino chips in his possession, is being hunted by PDRM.

Yahaya said the suspect, Victor Lee, a 44-year-old man, is now abroad, and if necessary, PDRM will seek help from the International Police (Interpol) to track down and arrest the suspect. The case is being investigated under Section 408 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust (CBT).
