Recently, a post on an alleged abuse case of a 13-month-old toddler at a nursery in Putrajaya has gone viral on Facebook, receiving over 53,000 shares and 31,000 reactions.

Shared by the mother of the child, the post detailed several alleged negligence and misconduct on the part of the nursery which resulted in her daughter being bitten and scratched by other same-aged children whilst at the nursery.

Following the post being viral, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) confirmed that it has received a police report from the mother regarding the incident at 10.26pm on 5 January 2023.

According to BERNAMA, Putrajaya district police chief ACP A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz asserted that the bite marks on the child are similar to bite marks of children her age. This was confirmed by medical officers at the Putrajaya Hospital when the child was referred there.

Asmadi further revealed that both parties had initially agreed on compensation for the incident but no solutions have been reached yet. He then urged the public to not speculate on the case or spread the post because it could cause disharmony in the community and interfere with police investigations.

Accordingly, PDRM is currently investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. A check with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) found that the nursery was registered and had a valid license to operate.
