In response to alarming cases of animal cruelty on Penang Island, the Penang branch of the International Aid for the Protection and Welfare of Animals (IAPWA) has announced a RM50,000 reward for credible information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

The reward specifically targets verified reports of poisoning, killing, maiming, or any form of abuse involving stray cats, dogs, or wildlife within the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) area. This initiative follows disturbing incidents on Penang Hill, where several animals were reportedly poisoned, sparking public outrage.

“This reward reflects our community’s strong stance against animal cruelty,” IAPWA Penang stated in a Facebook post, noting that the amount has been increased thanks to support from compassionate backers.

Only direct, verifiable tips will be considered, social media reposts or unconfirmed claims will not qualify. The group emphasised that both recent and past cases are relevant and encouraged anyone with information to come forward.

“All reports will be treated confidentially,” the group assured. “Your tip could save lives and bring justice to the voiceless.”

To report abuse, contact MBPP at 04-263 7000 / 04-263 7637 or WhatsApp 016-200 4082. You may also reach IAPWA Penang via email at gro.awpaiobfsctd-90db37@gnanep or WhatsApp at 010-388 3487.

Stay tuned for more updates.
