Prior to the surging Covid-19 cases in the Klang Valley area, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the Senior Minister for Security and Minister of Defence announced the implementation of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya from 14 October to 27 October 2020.
With the CMCO implemented, individuals from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya are not allowed inter-districts or inter-state travels, unless you have a work pass or there is a case of emergency.
Nevertheless, Gombak district police chief ACP Arifai Taraw is urging people to not give “lame excuses” for inter-state travels. According to BERNAMA, he said that a total of 1,587 applications for inter-state travel were received since 14 October 2020 and out of that, 1,555 applications were approved.
“Most of the applications to cross the state border are for medical, death and emergency cases. Those that were rejected gave lame excuses, such as for travel and holiday, to attend wedding reception or send children back to home town for no reason,” he added.
Therefore, whoever’s applying for inter-state travels are urged to not give lame excuses for the purpose, but to do so only with genuine and urgent reasons.
In case of an emergency that requires inter-state travel, individuals can obtain the application forms for movement permits at the nearest police station, or download from the official Royal Malaysia Police Facebook Page.
The completed form must be signed and stamped for use during roadblocks.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the public is reminded to stay home and not travel around to break the Covid-19 transmission chain.
