Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently shared his disappointment over the lack of “real issues” raised during the opposition’s rally in the capital.

In a Facebook post, he also said he’s open to hearing any kind of feedback or criticism, even from the opposition.

“Turunkan Anwar”

Anwar responded to the recent rally by saying that criticism and reminders are a natural part of any struggle, and should be welcomed when planning the way forward.

“I want to thank everyone who turned up. The rally was peaceful, and I respect that. I’m always open to feedback and criticism, but I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. No solid issues were brought up, just one repeated chant: ‘Bring Down Anwar,'” he wrote.

He went on to say that Malaysia is a democratic country and that a vote of no confidence is a valid process.

“It’s been said the Opposition Leader wants to table a vote of no confidence. By all means, this is a democracy. That’s a legitimate move. If they have the numbers, bring it to Parliament. I’ve never claimed this government is flawless. But we’re not too proud to acknowledge our faults.”

“We’ve brought down the price of RON95”

Anwar admitted that while they can’t achieve everything overnight, the push for reform will continue, one step at a time.

“Whatever is lacking, we’ll work to improve. If it’s still unresolved, we won’t stop trying. Reforms need to come in phases, so people can understand, accept, and support them for the long haul.”

Earlier, Anwar met with members of PKR’s Federal Territories chapter in Putrajaya, where he reminded them to stay committed to the spirit of islah mastata’tum, which means striving for change to the best of their abilities.

“We’ve brought down the price of RON95 to RM1.99 for Malaysians by removing subsidies for foreigners. It’s a bold but sensible move to make sure public funds benefit our people and help with the cost of living, without shaking the foundations of our economy.”

He added that KEADILAN must remain a party of the future, as it is a party that embraces criticism, acts with maturity, and stays united in purpose.

“We’re not perfect. But we’re honest. And as long as we keep that honesty and keep trying to do better, we’ll keep moving forward, beyond those who just make noise without direction or offering real solutions.”
