The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tasek Gelugor, Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan has proposed the Health Ministry (MOH) create a special lane for personnel and veterans of uniform bodies such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Armed Forces at government hospitals.

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat in an intervention into Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa’s winding-up speech on the 12th Malaysia Plan’s mid-term review, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) MP suggested for the uniform bodies to be given priority for treatment, especially for emergency cases.

Wan Saiful elaborated that many PDRM officers and army veterans complained to him about congestion at government hospitals and clinics to the point that they couldn’t even get a queue number for treatment.

He asserted,

“They (the officers and veterans) requested and suggested that they be given some privilege, whereby if they come with their families, maybe they can be given a special lane so that they don’t have to queue…”

“Given their sacrifices for our country, perhaps they shouldn’t have to queue for long, especially for emergency wards.”

Accordingly, for the aforementioned reasons, the Tasek Gelugor MP proposed for the Health Ministry to consider creating a special lane for officers and veterans of uniform bodies, essentially letting them cut queue at government health facilities to get medical treatments.

Replying to the suggestion, the Health Minister thanked Wan Saiful for the proposal and said that the ministry will take it into consideration.
