The police have opened an investigation paper against a male influencer after he uttered lewd remarks aimed towards a tourist while dining at a restaurant in Bukit Bintang, which later went viral on social media.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Fadil Marsus, stated that the police received a report from a Russian woman at the Dang Wangi Police Station yesterday.
According to him, the report concerns a TikTok video that humiliated the victim with lewd language.
“The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act. Further investigation into the incident is still ongoing.”
Influencer apologised after facing backlash
It was previously reported that Russian model Alisa Kasimova, had lodged a police report after being subjected to vulgar remarks by the influencer while she was dining at a restaurant in Bukit Bintang.
Alisa said she took action after receiving advice and concern from people around her regarding her safety.
“Many urged me to file a police report, and I have gone to the station to do so. I did it not out of anger, but because staying silent would only protect those who harm others,” she said on her Threads account.
Meanwhile, after facing heavy criticism, the male influencer involved issued an apology.
In a post on his TikTok account, the influencer apologised to all Malaysians and admitted that the mistake stemmed from his own carelessness and being influenced by netizens’ comments.
