Policeman Badly Injured After Being Hit By A Car In Seri Kembangan Roadblock

A policeman was seriously injured after being hit by a Toyota Vios driven by a drug-positive driver while on duty at a roadblock (SJR) at Jalan Besar Seri Kembangan early Saturday (5 February) morning. As reported by Sinar Harian, Serdang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner A A Anbalangan said, in the incident at 1.53 am, the victim, Lance Corporal Meor Mohd Asri, 33, suffered a broken right leg, injured both hands and received six stitches on the head.

According to him, a police team from the Seri Kembangan Police Station together with a patrol car (MPV) unit from the Serdang District Police Headquarters (IPD) managed to arrest three suspects at Jalan SP5/2 Taman Serdang Perdana here around 5.30am on Saturday. He elaborated,

“The results of the initial urine screening test of the three suspects were found to be positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and ketamine. The alcohol content breath test on the suspect was negative.”

He said the first suspect to be the driver of the car was a 29-year-old man with 14 criminal and drug records as well as 16 traffic offences. The second suspect was a 24-year-old woman who was in the same vehicle and had three previous records of drug cases. The third suspect is the owner of the vehicle who is a 29-year-old man, who works as a technician and has four criminal case records.

Anbalangan said the victim is currently receiving further treatment and is in a stable condition. The case will be investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment for up to 20 years and Section 26 of the Police Act and Section 44 (1A) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
