With the rise of social media, it appears that people have gone done some questionable acts just to gain fame and popularity.

However, it seems that even our civil servants are also no strangers to wanting a little bit of online popularity.

Recently, a policewoman went viral after she had recorded a live TikTok video during a raid in an entertainment centre which drew heavy criticism from netizens.

In the almost 2 minute viral video, the female policewoman can be heard telling her followers to follow her for updates. She even stated that she is hoping to reach 100,000 followers on her TikTok account.

“So you can go live whilst operating? Never knew. When I used to work as a public servant, if you post pictures whilst you’re on duty you will be heavily punished. Maybe times have changed,” commented a user.

Police investigating it

According to Berita Harian, the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department has been instructed to open an investigation on the policewoman.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Razarudin Husain confirmed that he had issued the order, whilst he also said that the department had also been tasked to determine the date and location of the live video were made.

“We also wanted to know the motive and objective of making the recording using her TikTok account.”

Razarudin also said that the department would issue a circular on the use of social media among police officers and personnel.

This was not the first time that Bukit Aman had issued a directive to bar its personnel from sharing social media content of themselves while on duty.

The same circular was issued back in August 2020, which aimed to prevent negative perceptions or criticism that could tarnish the image of the police force.

Checks by WORLD OF BUZZ show that the policewoman’s TikTok account is still public.
