While we’re at work, there are certain ethics & protocols that we are expected to follow. Everyone has the right to post whatever they see fit on social media but when it comes to official matters, the question of necessity comes to mind.

Recently, a policewoman from Bukit Aman’s Narcotics Department found herself under fire for doing a live video on TikTok during a raid at an entertainment centre. She has since responded to the backlash.

“I’m innocent. The media can go on a live broadcast during any raids, why can’t I?”

Facebook page Kaki Viral Terkini shared a conversation of the policewoman who took the time to answer questions posed by netizens on Telegram about the incident. She thinks it’s only fair if the government also investigates TV channels that broadcast live police raids.

She assured the people that during her live video, she did not say or do anything that humiliated other police officers.

“It’s just like the superiors doing live media conference and display all evidence like drugs. Why are they not investigated? Are the rules only applied to underlings?” she questioned.

She also explained that the reason for her live TikTok video during the raid was to gain more followers to support her side business.

“I’m trying to earn more for my children,” she said.

Ever since her live video circulated online, she has been investigated and just today (27 April), it is confirmed that she will be transferred to the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) in Johor Headquarters.

She is expected to report herself at her new workplace by end of May and assume the role of ASP of the Student Police Volunteer (Suksis) Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johor.

After her explanation, do you think it is a solid reason for her to conduct a live video at work? Generally, do you think it’s wise for a law enforcer to go on live videos via their social media while on duty?
