A simple remark about uniform condition has put Pos Malaysia under scrutiny on social media.

On April 18, X user @evvok shared a screenshot that appears to be from Pos Malaysia’s internal communication platform, where a postman, seeking a replacement for his worn-out uniform, reached out to his employer.

The postman had uploaded a photo of his tattered uniform, asking for a new one and mentioning that customers had remarked on its poor condition.

However, in a second screenshot, Pos Malaysia’s group CEO, Charles Brewer, responded with, “Consider yourself fortunate you don’t work for a foreign carrier that doesn’t provide uniforms at all.”

The postman replied, clarifying that it was a customer who had commented on the uniform and questioned if it was inappropriate to ask about it on Kyzence, the internal app for Pos Malaysia employees.

RESPONSE

Brewer’s response didn’t go down well with netizens, who accused him of being sarcastic and unhelpful to his employee who appeared to be simply asking for a new uniform.

Pos Malaysia releases statement

Following the matter, Pos Malaysia has released a statement on their official Facebook page to address the recent issue.

In the statement, the postal service mentioned that they took immediate steps to directly engage with the employee involved, and the matter has been resolved.

Brewer has also apologised to the staff member and extended his apologies to anyone else who may have been affected or offended by his comment.

“He acknowledges that he should have responded with more empathy and is committed to fostering a respectful and supportive environment for all Pos Wiras.”

Pos Malaysia further stated that they will enhance their internal processes to ensure uniform replacements are handled more efficiently, supporting their riders in their duties.
