Some things are likely to last long if they’re well-preserved and taken care of. The road conditions of some places in Malaysia have always been a debate, with many criticising the ignored damages, and actions are mostly taken when there are surprise visits.

3 months ago, the road condition at a place in Sabah was in good condition when the King was in town for the “Jelajah Borneo” (touring Borneo) event. However, according to a post by X user @Imanazlan11, that is not the case anymore.

“It was in good condition when Agong was here.”

It took the road about 3 months to get back to its previous damaged conditions and as of now, no actions have been taken to fix the road.

The road condition caused traffic congestion as drivers carefully drove through the pothole-filled road. If the drivers had an alternate route to go to their destinations, they would have. Unfortunately, the road was the only easy option they had.

To use another route would take a longer commute time.

“This is the main route that connects East Coat Sabah (Tawau, Lahad Datu, Semporna) to Kota Kinabalu,” Iman said in his post.

Driving through the potholes is not only a nuisance but also poses a risk to your car, which might cause more damage in the future, especially if you commute to your destination via the road every day.

What exactly went wrong? Was the road built without following the specifications and protocols? Or are the damages caused by the lorries? Iman himself has no idea of those “mysteries.”

Iman added that the road shown in the video is in Kinabatangan, and some netizens were also NOT happy to see the same cycle of the road condition.

“It’s not even as bad as the road on Jalan Telupid. It tires my mouth every time I travel there because I cannot stop cursing.”

“Regardless of how much has been allocated, Sabah remains the same. Why can’t the fate of Sabahans be better? The project has been approved with less than RM50 million of allocation.”

“The state government has never been punished by the people. They will continue to feel comfortable ‘up there’. I don’t know who to blame. Sabahans themselves, or the state government.”

You can watch the clip below.

We hope the relevant parties will take action soon to fix the road condition there before any accidents happen.
