Great news for all PTPTN borrowers!
The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) will now allow borrowers earning less than RM4,000 a month to defer their study loan repayment, as reported by The Sun.

According to The Star, PTPTN chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan said that all PTPTN borrowers need to update their personal information pertaining to their occupation, salary, phone number and email address by July 25.
If you don’t, they’ll assume you will continue with the repayment!
“They have until July 25 and an audit will then be conducted by PTPTN.”
“If it is not done within the stipulated time, we will assume that they don’t wish to delay the repayment, of their loans and they will not be included in new policies with regards to the matter.”

How do I do it?
Borrowers can update their info through the official portal, www.ptptn.gov.my under ‘Pengemaskinian Maklumat Pendapat’.
This implementation is in line with the 100-day pledge of Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto to help ease the financial burden of PTPTN borrowers earning less than RM4,000 per month.
Earlier this June, Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik has requested more time to fulfil this promise due to the country’s bad debt, The Star reported.
“The ministry needs time to find the best way to fulfil this promise within the 100 days.”

He reassured the public that Pakatan would not go back on its promise but had to delay it because when the Pakatan manifesto was created, it was initially based on financial figures provided by Barisan Nasional in 2017.
And sure enough, the promise has been fulfilled today!
So, if you’re a PTPTN borrower and want to delay your repayment, don’t forget to update your info by July 25!
