Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa has revealed that the Federal Territory of Putrajaya has one of the highest obesity rates, high cholesterol rates and lack of physical activities in Malaysia.
In a Facebook post, she shared how data revealed that Putrajaya residents have a higher rate of obesity and high blood pressure, as well as a lack of physical activities compared to the national average in our country.
Putrajaya also recorded one of the highest depression levels in Malaysia

Besides that, Dr Zaliha was also quoted by BERNAMA as saying that statistics by the Health Ministry showed that the level of depression and anxiety in Putrajaya was also among the highest in the country.
The Federal Territories Minister asserted,
“This is rather worrying and intervention is needed by all parties, including the proactive role played by our sports bodies.”
Putrajaya Sihat Sejahtera by 2030 initiative
Accordingly, her Ministry on the Federal Territories Day last 22 February introduced the “CHASE City” model, of which, “Healthy City” is one of its 5 main visions. The CHASE City model will be implemented in all 3 Federal Territories, including Putrajaya.

Furthermore, in direct response to the higher rates of obesity, high blood pressure and lack of physical activities compared to the national average in Putrajaya, the Federal Government is also introducing the “Putrajaya Sihat Sejahtera by 2030” initiative.
The initiative was discussed during the recent Cabinet Meeting in regard to the Healthy Malaysia National Agenda Bil. 1/12024 chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
