We’ve heard all about the Quokka island in Australia and Cat island in Singapore, but did you know there are other animal-populated islands in this world? Yep, we bet your animal-lover heart is squealing with joy.

So, are you ready for an adorableness fest? If yes then sit tight because you’re about to experience all types of cuteness as you educate yourself about the lesser-known animal islands. This is probably the cutest article we’ve ever written.❤
1. Flamingo Island, Aruba
You’re lying if you say that you were never in awe of Flamingoes! These pink graceful birds are probably one of the finest pieces of art Mother Gaia has given us.

So, if you’re a huge fan of these fabulous pink creatures, here are some important deets that you should know:
- Renaissance Island is a private island in Aruba, so you need to use a ferry to get there.
- You can only get access to the boat if you have a room key, so this means you’ll have to stay at the Renaissance Hotel to acquire a key.
- There are iguanas and other wild birds on the island too.
- To keep their guests entertained, they have a bar, small restaurant, a spa cove and hammocks laid out for them to use.
Fun fact: These flamingoes aren’t native to Aruba, they are brought in from Venezuela.
2. Deer Island, Japan
I don’t know if you can find Rudolph, Dasher and Prancer here but one thing’s for sure is that you’d find a lot of cute deer this island.

Miyajima Island is almost magical as it’s home to many mystical stories, but that’s a story for another time. Today, we’re going to learn a little bit more about it’s nickname – the Deer Island. Here’s the tea on this island:
- It’s one of the most scenic spots in Japan and it is infested (in a good way) with deers.
- It’s not a private island thus you can tour the place for only a day.
- If you’d like to visit the place, you have two options: one, opt for an all-inclusive tour. Two, use public transportation.
- Other than that, you can also enjoy the local cuisine at Omotesando Street; visit the O-Torii during the high tide; and, hike up the Scale Mount Misen.
I really do hope that they would have a deer named Rudolph…or Bambi.
3. Rabbit Island, Japan
We can’t be friends if you think rabbits aren’t cute. Period.
Okunoshima is a small island in the Inland Sea of Japan and it’s the habitat to the cutest animal (after Quokka) on earth – rabbits. According to National Geographic, the Japan government used to discreetly test poison gas in Okunoshima and rabbits were brought to the island as test animals.

But, another story claims that the rabbits populated the area after a British couple brought some bunnies to the island. Meanwhile, another tale theorises that a nearby school released them in 1971. Whatever the story may be, it’s quite evident that the bunnies “run” the island now. Here’s some extra information about the island:
- As of 2017, there are between 700 and 1,000 rabbits in Okunoshima.
- The rabbits are friendly, but they can get aggressive when they want food.
- These are European rabbits, and they are naturally herbivores – which means they eat leaves, roots, wood and seed. Cabbages, carrots and lettuce are poison to the rabbits.
- You can’t chase, feed and pick them up to cuddle for your own safety because these are wild rabbits after all.
- Tourists need to use a ferry from Hiroshima to the island; that said, it isn’t a private island so a one-day trip would suffice.
