Hannah Yeoh officially clocked in as the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) today (22 December) alongside her deputy, Datuk Lo Su Fui. Speaking to the media, Yeoh gave a preview of her upcoming priorities.
In her new ministerial role, she assured that the rights and interests of traditional Malay villages in the Federal Territories, such as Kampung Baru and Kampung Sungai Baru, will remain protected during her tenure.

Yeoh stressed that safeguarding traditional villages is an important issue that demands careful consideration, especially in the face of rapid urban development in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.
Yeoh added that as the Segambut Member of Parliament (MP), she is also responsible for Kampung Sungai Penchala.

The Federal Territories Minister added that while commercial buildings are easy to find, traditional villages are becoming increasingly rare.
“Everything must be done according to the law, and I want to receive a briefing from the relevant agencies first.”
“In my track record, I consistently highlighted the importance of protecting traditional Malay villages,” she stated.
In the meantime, Yeoh, who has been the State Assemblyperson for Subang Jaya, Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, Segambut MP, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, and Minister of Youth and Sports, emphasised that policy, delivery, and results have always been her goals.
“My mind and my heart have always been fully committed to serving the people. I am ready to hit the ground running and let my track record speak for itself,” she remarked in a Facebook post.
When it comes to the Federal Territories, Yeoh is clear on her vision, which is to fully realise their potential and inspire other cities nationwide to be clean in both spirit and appearance, as well as to be safe places where people can live, work, and enjoy life to the fullest.
She also highlighted that she and Datuk Lo have a background in the legal field, which is a strength for good governance and sound decision-making.
