Two operating staff at LRT Kelana Jaya line have tested positive for Covid-19 and are currently quarantined at Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

Rapid KL said in a statement today (16 December) that the two individuals, who served as ‘station officers’ were last on duty on 12 and 13 December 2020. However, they said that this was in a closed area and both staff had no contact with passengers.

“Following the confirmation, the management of Rapid Rail, which is the operator of the Kelana Jaya Line, has carried out disinfection and cleaning work last night based on the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health,” the statement said.

“All other staff who have close contact with the two staff are also instructed to undergo screening tests and self-quarantine for 14 days as stipulated under the MOH standard operating procedures.”

The statement added that the trains undergo disinfection and cleaning work every day during peak hours and after operation at the end of the day and assured that the Kelana Jaya LRT service and other rail networks operating under Rapid Rail are safe.

“The management and staff of Prasarana, especially in Rapid Rail and Rapid Bus have been trained to apply the highest standards and protocols for hygiene and sanitation related to Covid-19 in line with the safety and health guidelines set by the MOH to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers,” the statement said.

Rapid Rail also reminds passengers to always adhere to the SOP that have been set, especially wearing a face mask at all times and disinfecting their hands, as well as registering with the MySejahtera app before entering the train.

They added that these steps are important as it makes it easier for the MOH to do contact tracing if positive Covid-19 cases are detected.

“We are committed to implement measures that can protect the health and safety of passengers and staff,” they said.
