Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar has pledged stronger enforcement and moral education initiatives following the detention of 203 men during a major raid on a premises along Jalan Raja Laut.

The minister described the case, which involved activities “contrary to religious values, societal norms, and national law”, as deeply concerning and called for a united effort to curb moral decay.

The raid, codenamed OPS SONGSANG, was carried out by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) with support from DBKL, the Health Ministry, and JAWI.

Authorities said the premises operated legally as a gym and sauna but allegedly promoted activities that violated both law and morality. DBKL has begun the process of revoking its license.

Public servants among those detained

The minister confirmed reports that some of those identified were civil servants, calling it “alarming” and urging a more aggressive approach to integrity and ethics within the civil service.

“I fully support the actions taken by PDRM, DBKL, and JAWI to combat immoral activities and sexual misconduct,” the minister said, adding that investigation results will be referred for prosecution where applicable.

He directed JAKIM and JAWI to strengthen preventive programs, moral advocacy, and value-based education, particularly targeting youth, professionals, and urban communities.

He also urged Malaysians not to normalise vice or dismiss the issue of moral collapse, warning that it could “damage our generation and the nation’s dignity.”

“We aspire for a Malaysia that is progressive yet rooted in strong moral values and blessed by God,” he said.
