In multiple videos that are currently circulating online, the officers are seen moving the dining tables and chairs onto the lorry, while other law enforcers got into a verbal argument with employees of the restaurant.

Jelapang Assemblyperson, Cheah Pou Hian, managed to visit the hospitalised elderly woman, the employee who fell and got injured during the fight. He also assisted in arranging follow-up medical treatment and necessary assistance to ensure that the relevant persons received medical care.

“As a people’s representative, it is my responsibility to ensure that the entire process is in compliance with the law, open and transparent, and that all parties involved are treated equally and fairly.”

Cheah also called on the public to remain calm and rational and to avoid making judgements based on incomplete information or spreading unverified content, reported Oriental Daily.

The MBI enforcement officer was punched first

Ipoh Police Chief, Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said a 40-year-old MBI enforcement officer made a report at 6.43 PM yesterday (April 16) claiming to be the victim of the incident. In its official statement, initial investigations found that the provocation began when a restaurant worker was dissatisfied with chairs and tables being seized from the premises, following a complaint from the MBI Health Department.

“The suspect uttered abusive language and tried to prevent the enforcement officers from carrying out their due diligence.”

Statements from several witnesses were taken to assist in the investigation under Sections 353 and 186 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
