A few months after the implementation of the RFID system, the issues continue to burden some of its users and cause inconvenience to other road users when congestion happens at the toll.

Just this morning (13 June), Facebook page Info Penduduk Bandar Seri Putra shared an image which shows a congested RFID lane at the Bangi toll while the other lanes appeared to be smooth sailing.

The caption reads, “When a car is stuck at the front, the others at the back had no choice but to wait.”

Plan B – Touch N’ Go

Those who have been using RFID since its implementation often find themselves stuck in traffic when the same problem persists. Some road users have since suggested they always have a backup plan in case.

Standby your Touch ‘n Go and it’ll solve your problems. They need countless meetings to settle these RFID issues,” commented a user.

“My advice, always use the TnG during peak hours. Only the ‘noobs’ will use the new system when they don’t even know how to use it.”

A user also said that the relevant parties should have made available a dual-function lane where road users can use both RFID as well as Smart Tag.

Meanwhile, a user actually put the blame on users who installed the RFID wrongly which causes the system to not be able to detect the vehicle at the toll.

“It’s the DIY gang. Installing the RFID by themselves inappropriately and when they’re stuck, they trouble the others. Please buy at the shop with testers,” added the user.

Months ago, PLUS have said that they will be deploying their officers at the toll booth to assist affected RFID users, however, the strategy does not seem to have lasted long.

Do you think they should install more RFID lanes? Should road users have a backup plan? Let us know in the comments.
