Fresh out of winning three gold medals, setting a world record and an Asian Games record at the Jakarta-Palembang Asian Para Games 2018, Mohamad Ridzuan Puzi is the first Malaysian to be named the Best Asian Male Para-Athlete at an award ceremony in Dubai.

During the Asian Para Games 2018 in Jakarta, Ridzuan, broke the world record in the men’s 100m T36 and the Asian Games records in the long jump event.
His 3rd gold came when he dashed and left behind his competitors in the 400m event.
As quoted by The Star, Ridzuan said,
“I never expected to win the award as there a few other athletes who have also done well in the Asian Para Games. It’s an honour as I’m the first Malaysian to win this award.”

Ridzuan also thanked his personal coach R. Jaganathan saying that he can never achieve all these without his coach’s guidance. Ridzuan also mentioned that the award will be a boost for him to perform even better as the World Para Athletics Championship in Doha in November.
