They wrote, “Congratulations to Janet Tan, a talented home baker from Lahad Datu, Sabah, (who is) now living in the US, for winning the weekly challenge on the US Food Network’s Christmas Cookie Challenge!”

“Her creative tropical Christmas cookies impressed the judges and earned her the grand prize of US$10,000 (RM44,350). What an incredible achievement!”

According to a report by Seattle Magazine, Tan shared that the prize money will go towards investing in new equipment, as she’s currently running her own business, Fairyland Pastry, from her home with the additional use of a commercial kitchen.

“I was surprised when I found out that I won because the other bakers are equally talented and this challenge was so tough. I had to stay calm and think fast about how to complete the challenge. My hope is that now, even more people will be able to enjoy my cookies,”

“Never underestimate yourself. If you work hard at the thing you love, good results will come, even under pressure,” she said.

This win has also brought her one step further towards her goal of opening her own store.

In the Food Network’s Christmas Cookie Challenge, a group of bakers compete for a prize of US$10,000 (RM44,350) every week over the holiday season.
