A new Covid-19 cluster has been detected in Selangor where a total of eight people have tested positive so far.
According to the Ministry of Health the index cases for the Jalan Apas Cluster are a Malaysian couple (case 10,782 and 10,778) who had travelled to Tawau and Semporna, Sabah from 13 to 16 September.
Both of them began experiencing fever, cough and flu symptoms on 18 September and received treatment at a medical centre on 19 September.
They were referred to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang on 24 September where they tested positive for Covid-19 two days later. The couple were then admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
Results from close contact screening revealed that six more individuals tested positive for Covid-19 on 27 September.
As of 27 September, a total of 66 individuals have been screened. Of these individuals, eight tested positive, 56 tested negative and two individuals are still awaiting results.
Measures to prevent and control infections such as cleaning and disinfection processes have been carried out at the locations involved while the cause of the infection is still under investigation.
Covid-19 is beginning to spread even more in the community and it’s extremely important that we be extra careful when we’re in public amongst the crowd.
