An elderly couple was found dead at Nilai, Seremban on 24th July, after firefighters were alerted to a fire happening in their house. After further investigation, they discovered that the couple was murdered before the fire. Firefighters stumbled upon the bodies in a pool of blood around 10.45pm on 24th July, NST reported.

The autopsy showed that the cause of death was due to severe injuries from several stab wounds and slashes found on several parts of the bodies of the victims, who were husband and wife. The husband was identified as Tan Kim Joo, 73, whose body was discovered in the kitchen while his wife Ng Chong Hwa, 63, was found in another room nearby.

Now, following an investigation into the case, the police have arrested four suspects involved in the murder/arson. One of them is Tan Kian Ngip, 40, who is the adopted son of the deceased couple, and he had allegedly killed his parents by stabbing them with a knife, The Star reported. It was not mentioned what was the motive for the double murders.

He has been charged for the murder of his adopted parents in two separate courts. The stockbroker, dressed in a purple prison outfit, nodded when the charges were read out to him but no plea was recorded. He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty upon conviction. The magistrates confirmed 10th September for remention of the cases as they are waiting for a full chemical report.

The police confirmed that they had arrested the suspect the day after his parents’ bodies were found, and they also discovered suspicious bloodstains on his car. Meanwhile, another three suspects, Lim Boon Ee, 35, Kek Ying Haur, 41, and Hyen Kok Chu, 37, were charged for disposing of evidence, namely the knife used in the alleged crime. Lim is also Tan’s wife.

All three suspects pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to the charges under section 201 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in jail and a fine. Another female suspect was remanded on 29th July, but the order ran out today (5th August). The other three suspects had 10th September fixed for remention of their cases and were allowed to be released on an RM8,000 bail with two sureties each. They also had to surrender their passports and will have to report to the nearest police station once a month.

May the elderly couple rest in peace and justice be brought to the murderer.
