A 36-year-old police officer from the Seremban District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) who suffered serious injuries after a 17-year-old ‘Mat Rempit’ or illegal street racer crashed his motorbike into him on 28 July is now suffering memory loss due to the incident.
Harian Metro quoted the Negeri Sembilan JSPT Chief Superintendent Muhmmad Zaki Ramat as saying that the officer has yet to resume duties following the incident and is still recovering from the memory loss.

Muhammad Zaki added that the hospital allowed the officer to be discharged early from the ward on 16 August, but as of today, he has not fully recovered and is still unable to work.
Thankfully, the Negeri Sembilan JSPT Chief said that the officer, who has 4 children, is getting better but remains largely quiet now due to difficulties with memory.
Furthermore, Muhammad Zaki said that the Negeri Sembilan JSPT contingent and all of his colleagues always visit him to give support and any other assistance that he needs.
The Mat Rempit was riding against traffic before crashing into the officer
The officer, whose identity was not revealed, suffered serious injuries after a 17-year-old Mat Rempit crashed his motorcycle into the officer at kilometre 36 of the Serembang-Kajang Highway (Lekas) at around 2am on 28 July.
The Mat Rempit was driving against traffic when he crashed into the officer while he was conducting ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’ on the highway. Both of them were riding a motorcycle at the time.
Following the crash, both the officer and the suspect were taken to Hospital Tuanku Jaafar (HTJ) to receive treatment.
Moreover, the 36-year-old officer suffered serious injuries on his head and was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) as a result of the crash.
The suspect may face up to 5 years in jail and up to RM15,000 fine
The case is still under investigation, with the 17-year-old Mat Rempit set to be charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 soon.
If convicted, the suspect may face up to 5 years in jail and a fine between RM5,000 to RM15,000.
We seriously hope the police officer will fully recover soon and for the suspect to feel the full brunt of the law. ?
