What happens when a couple looks for different things in marriage? For instance, a place to call home?
A Malaysian man, who makes RM30,000 a month, now has a lot of worries on his plate after his wife has set her sights on a property she wants to call home. With his 5-figure salary and his wife’s RM5,000 monthly salary, the man said he can afford, at most, a house that is worth RM600,000.

His wife, on the other hand, insisted on getting a house in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, that is worth RM1.1 million, putting him under immense pressure.
In an anonymous post shared by the man, he added that even if his wife contributes RM1,500 a month for the mortgage, they can, at most, afford a property that is worth RM800,000. He said that he has other commitments, which include giving his parents RM2,000 every month, and another mortgage for a house in Johor Bahru, in which he admitted he has not been able to save much.

The man’s biggest concern is that if he loses his job, he will face a major financial crisis. Despite his attempts to communicate with his wife about the matter, she insisted on the Mont Kiara property, highlighting the pros of the place.
“Because of this, I think twice about adding her name to the property. She said I don’t love her, but if we purchase an RM600,000 home, I could save up to RM5,000 a month.”

On the bright side, the man has completed his car loan and opted to continue driving his 2013 second-hand Honda Accord. Her wife, who drives a Perodua Myvi, intends to upgrade her car to a Honda HR-V, and if she does, she can barely save up.
“She can save up to RM1,000 a month now. Sometimes, she swipes my card for her gas money and skincare products, too.”
He also admitted that these accumulated burdens have caused him to abandon his thoughts about having children, and at times, he had thought of divorcing his wife, as he didn’t think they could see eye to eye on some matters.
