The coronavirus infections have begun to drop in China and many other countries including Malaysia. However, there has been a sudden spike of cases in one particular country.
Located on the southeastern part of South Korea, the city of Daegu – the fourth-largest city of the country has just recorded over a hundred new cases in the past few days. That makes about over 500 confirmed cases and four deaths in the country alone.
“The government will sternly deal with acts that interfere with quarantine efforts, illegal hoarding of medical goods and acts that spark uneasiness through massive rallies,” prime minister, Mr. Chung warned in a nationally televised address, adding that the situation is “grave”.

According to BBC, many of the recent cases are allegedly linked to a hospital and a religious group located near the city of Daegu. It is reported that Daegu and Cheongdo – a city close by, have been declared as “special care zones” and even the streets of Daegu has been massively deserted.
In fear of risking the virus spreading to it’s armed forces, South Korea has also restricted military personnel from taking a day off, going off base overnight or even greeting visitors at their installations.
The mayor of Daegu, Kwon-Young-jin while advising locals to stay indoors, added that “the crisis level of Daegu and the North Gyeongsang province is grave.”
