Remember the good ol’ days in Form 5 when everyone studying Moral Education spent a good amount of time cramming all 36 ‘nilai‘ along with their EXACT definitions before SPM? We sure as hell don’t miss it one bit!
It’s no secret that Moral Education is a pretty tricky subject to score in for the SPM examinations because if you mess up on the wording of the values and/or their definitions just a tiny bit, you can lose out on some precious marks that can affect your overall grade.
Now, with the 2017 batch of SPM students just getting their results, there seems to have been an overall improvement in grades compared to 2016, according to The Star.

Education director-general Datuk Dr Amin Senin noted that the National Average Grade (GPN) improved. 2017’s overall score was 4.90 compared to 5.05 in 2016 (PS: a lower GPN scores show better performance). He told the daily,
“85.2% of the candidates qualify for the SPM certificate,” he said when announcing the SPM 2017 results analysis on Thursday (15th March).
However, while students showed improved performance in some subjects, Moral Education showed a decline in performance, according to the director-general, who added,
“Bahasa Malaysia showed the most improvement with an increase in its Subject Average Grade (GPMP) of 0.46 while Moral Studies had the biggest decrease of 0.11.”
Well, we totally get it. Memorising all those ‘nilai‘ while studying for at least eight other subjects can really take its toll on you. Nonetheless, we’re still proud of batch 2017’s overall improved performance! Ya did good, kiddos!
