A recent incident occurred on public transport operator SBS Transit’s hub in Singapore when a passenger, Mr M, lost his passport and couldn’t return home to Malaysia.

After losing his passport, he spent the night at a fast food restaurant and went to the SBS Transit Passenger Service Office (PSO) the next day to see if anyone had found it.

“Mr M was crying because he couldn’t return home without his passport”

In a Facebook post, SBS Transit shared how Senior Assistant Interchange Supervisor Nithyananthan Palne (Nathan) started his shift in the wee hours at Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange and encountered a distressed Mr M.

Mr M, who had spent the entire night searching for his passport, suspected he might have left it on one of the SBS Transit buses he had taken while in the country.

“He was crying, saying he couldn’t return to Malaysia without his passport and didn’t know what to do,” Nathan recalled.

Nathan quickly reached out to staff across several bus interchanges, but there was no sign of the passport.

“Then I called Seletar Bus Depot, and that’s when the good news came in. A Bus Captain had found a passport matching the description under a seat on Service 24,” he said.

“I appreciate Nathan’s excellent service”

After confirming Mr M’s identity, Nathan personally went to the depot to retrieve the passport and returned it to him at the interchange.

“He was overjoyed when he got it back. He even called a few days later to thank me again personally,” Nathan shared.

Mr M later sent a heartfelt note of thanks, expressing how impressed he was with Nathan’s quick and efficient action in helping him recover his passport.

“I really appreciate his excellent service and feel grateful to the SBS officer. I want to thank him so much.”
